Estas afecciones suelen ser tratadas por médicos de primer nivel o con diferentes especialidades clínicas, por ende, es importante que estos médicos conozcan el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la enfermedad. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el conocimiento sobre EHGNA en médicos de un hospital del norte del Perú, 2023. Material y métodos: Diseño descriptivo transversal; mediante un instrumento validado de 13 preguntas, se encuesto a 41 médicos, muestreo censal. Los datos se procesaron en el programa Epi Info versión 7. Resultados: Participaron en el estudio un total de 41 médicos (IC 95%), 31 médicos asistentes y 10 residentes. El 34% de los participantes tuvo conocimiento suficiente sobre EHGNA, no se encontró diferencia significativa con ninguna característica sociodemográfica, ni la experiencia de haber realizado un diagnóstico previo. No hubo diferencias significativas entre médicos asistentes ni residentes, ni entre las especialidades. Conclusión: El conocimiento de EHGNA fue insuficiente en más de la mitad de los asistentes y residentes de un hospital del norte del Perú.Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a multisystemic condition whose morbidity and mortality are not limited to liver disease but also affect various organs and regulatory pathways. These conditions are often managed by primary care physicians or specialists from different clinical fields; therefore, it is essential that these physicians are knowledgeable about the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about NAFLD among physicians at a hospital in northern Peru in 2023. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using a validated 13-question instrument to survey 41 physicians through a census sampling method. Data were processed using Epi Info version 7. A total of 41 physicians participated in the study (95% CI), including 31 attending physicians and 10 residents. Only 34% of participants had sufficient knowledge about NAFLD. No significant differences were found based on sociodemographic characteristics or prior experience in diagnosing the disease. There were no significant differences between attending physicians and residents or among different specialties.
