Resumen
La personalidad de un individuo se caracteriza por una serie de rasgos que definen sus pensamientos, emociones y conductas, ejerciendo una influencia significativa en su estilo de vida, relaciones interpersonales y toma de decisiones. En el caso del personal policial, que a menudo se enfrenta a interacciones continuas con otras personas, es crucial abordar los desafíos relacionados con la salud mental y sus impactos en los ámbitos social, familiar y laboral. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar los rasgos de personalidad en los efectivos policiales de una comisaría del distrito de La Victoria, Chiclayo, 2023. Como objetivos específicos, se buscó identificar los niveles de las dimensiones de los rasgos de personalidad en función del sexo, la edad y el estado civil de los participantes. El estudio se basó en un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental de tipo descriptivo. Se evaluó a 95 efectivos policiales de ambos sexos, utilizando el cuestionario Big Five Inventory (BFI-15p). Los resultados mostraron que los rasgos de personalidad de Extraversión, Amabilidad, Responsabilidad y Apertura alcanzaron niveles "Altos", mientras que el Neuroticismo se ubicó en un nivel "Bajo". Se concluye que los rasgos de personalidad predominantes en los efectivos policiales son la Extraversión, Amabilidad, Responsabilidad y Apertura, con un Neuroticismo bajo.
An individual's personality is characterized by a series of traits that define their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, exerting a significant influence on their lifestyle, interpersonal relationships, and decision-making. For police officers, who often face continuous interactions with others, it is crucial to address challenges related to mental health and its impact on social, family, and work environments. The general objective of this research was to determine the personality traits of police officers at a police station in the La Victoria district of Chiclayo, 2023. The specific objectives were to identify the levels of personality trait dimensions based on the sex, age, and marital status of the participants. The study was based on a quantitative approach, with a descriptive, non-experimental design. Ninety-five police officers of both sexes were assessed using the Big Five Inventory (BFI-15p). The results showed that the personality traits of Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness reached "High" levels, while Neuroticism was found at a "Low" level. It is concluded that the predominant personality traits in police officers are Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness, with Neuroticism being low.
