The aim of this work is to use the foundations of neuroarchitecture to improve social housing in Chiclayo, using the Bolognesi Residential Complex as a model. Rather than proposing aesthetic changes, the objective is to understand how architectural modifications over time have positively or negatively influenced the daily lives of its inhabitants. To understand this relationship, I used a mixed-method approach that combined surveys, direct observation, and document review. These tools, in addition to detecting architectural deficiencies, allowed me to closely understand the emotional and spatial needs of the residents. The work was carried out in three phases. First, I analyzed the current situation of the residential complex and the level of satisfaction of its residents. Next, I selected the neuroarchitectural parameters that best fit this case. Finally, I proposed design strategies that responded to these needs. The survey results show that 40% of respondents consider the creation or improvement of recreational areas a priority, 30% request commercial spaces, and 10% request study areas. Regarding desired changes to housing, 35% proposed improving the internal layout, another 35% expanding storage areas, 25% increasing shared areas, and 5% adding more bedrooms. The lack of natural light, sparse vegetation, rigid layouts, and a lack of common spaces have a direct impact on emotional and cognitive well-being and on the way people relate to their environment. Based on these findings, I suggest guidelines for developing more emotionally positive, flexible, and healthy environments. This analysis demonstrates that neuroarchitecture is applicable to social housing and that conscious design is a valuable tool for improving quality of life, promoting coexistence, and increasing well-being.
