Percepciones sobre el apoyo familiar en adultos mayores hipertensos que asisten a un centro de salud de Chiclayo, 2025

Abstract

La hipertensión arterial es una de las enfermedades crónicas más prevalentes que afecta principalmente a los adultos mayores. Así, el apoyo familiar juega un papel fundamental en el cumplimiento del tratamiento; no obstante, en ocasiones este apoyo resulta inadecuado. La presente investigación tuvo por objetivo describir las percepciones sobre el apoyo familiar en adultos mayores hipertensos que asisten a un centro de salud de Chiclayo, 2025. El tipo de investigación fue cualitativa con abordaje descriptivo y la población estuvo constituida por adultos mayores entre 60 a 70 años. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 15 adultos mayores hipertensos, obtenida por criterios de saturación y redundancia; y el muestreo fue no probabilístico por conveniencia. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante la técnica de la entrevista y como instrumento se aplicó una guía de entrevista semiestructurada validada por juicio de expertos. Se realizó el análisis de contenido y se consideró los principios de rigor científicos según Berenguera y principios éticos según Sgreccia. Como resultados se obtuvieron 3 categorías: 1) Apreciaciones sobre el acompañamiento de la familia en el manejo de la hipertensión, 2) Percepción del apoyo emocional brindado por la familia durante la enfermedad, 3) Conocimientos y actuación informada de la familia en crisis hipertensivas. Se concluye que el apoyo familiar es percibido por el paciente hipertenso mediante acciones prácticas que facilitan la adherencia terapéutica; sin embargo, en el ámbito emocional este respaldo resulta limitado, lo que sugiere el desarrollo de intervenciones.

High blood pressure is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in the world, primarily affecting older adults. Faced with this, family support plays a fundamental role in treatment adherence and the promotion of healthy habits; however, this support can sometimes be insufficient or inadequate. This research aimed to describe perceptions of family support among hypertensive older adults attending a health center in Chiclayo, 2025. The research was qualitative with a descriptive approach, and the population consisted of older adults between 60 and 70 years of age, taking into account inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample consisted of 15 hypertensive older adults, obtained using saturation and redundancy criteria; and the sampling was non-probability due to convenience. Data collection was conducted through interviews, using a semi-structured interview guide validated by expert judgment as the instrument. Content analysis was conducted, taking into account Berenguera's principles of scientific rigor and Sgreccia's ethical principles. Three categories were obtained: 1) Appreciations of family support in the management of the hypertension, 2) Perceptions of the emotional support provided by the family during the illness, 3) Knowledge and informed actions of the family in hypertensive crisis. It is concluded that family support is perceived by the hypertensive patient through practical actions that facilitate therapeutic adherence; however, in the emotional sphere this support is limited, which suggests the development of interventions.
