Hypertensive crisis is a relevant medical emergency because it can cause a heart attack, stroke or other life-threatening conditions. In view of this, the academic work entitled: Critical review: standardized nursing care in hypertensive crisis in the emergency department, where the objective was to determine the optimal performance of emergency nurses in the event of a hypertensive crisis. The development of the current study is of utmost importance due to the fact that by having a guide that allows to adequately follow the steps to be taken during a hypertensive crisis, providing knowledge and the management of adequate practices, the nursing staff will opt for improvement, increasing the quality of the medical service, raising their assistance capabilities in clinical practice and avoiding risk situations. This research used the Evidence-Based Nursing (EBE) methodology; considering a total of 10 scientific articles associated with the topic, being searched in scientific databases such as: GOOGLE ACADEMIC, ALICIA, PUBMED, SCIENDO, SCIELO and MAGAZINE; in addition, the Gálvez Toro validity and usefulness guide was used for approval, leaving 1 study referring to a clinical practice guide selected for critical commentary. Finally, the study allows us to answer the clinical question: How do clinical practice guidelines improve the ability of emergency nurses to provide standardized treatment for hypertensive crises? It states that when emergency nurses adequately use a clinical practice guideline, it favors the achievement of the patient's integral health.
