Nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal en docentes de una institución educativa, Chiclayo, 2024

Abstract

Los docentes desempeñan un papel muy importante en la vida de sus estudiantes, debido a que aparte de sus padres, son los encargados más cercanos en el desarrollo general de los niños; y la concientización que ejercen acerca del cuidado de la salud, incluyendo, el cuidado oral es importante para la formación de una cultura de prevención en la salud bucal. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal en docentes de una Institución Educativa Chiclayo, 2024. Investigación de tipo cuantitativa, transversal, conformada por 147 docentes, los cuales fueron elegidos a través criterios de selección, incluyendo a docentes que pertenezcan a la institución educativa que hayan leído la hoja informativa, a quienes se les entregó una encuesta acerca del nivel de conocimientos sobre salud oral. Teniendo como resultado que la mayoría de docentes encuestados presentaron un nivel de conocimiento medio (47.2%) acerca de salud bucal. Según sexo, predominó el sexo femenino con un nivel de conocimiento medio (52.6%), seguido del sexo masculino con un nivel de conocimiento alto (45.7%). Según edad, predominó el rango etario de 33 a 38 años, de los cuales resaltó el nivel de conocimiento bajo (68.3%); y según nivel de educación básica regular resaltó el nivel de conocimiento medio (47.4%) respecto al nivel primario, al igual que el nivel secundario (47.2%). Concluyendo que los docentes de la Institución Educativa tuvieron nivel de conocimiento medio.

Teachers play a very important role in the lives of their students because, apart from their parents, they are the closest responsible for the general development of children. The awareness they exercise about health care, including oral care, is important for the formation of a culture of prevention in oral health. The objective of the study was to determine the level of knowledge about oral health among teachers at an educational institution in Chiclayo, 2024. This was a quantitative, cross-sectional study comprised of 147 teachers, who were chosen through selection criteria, including teachers belonging to the educational institution who had read the information sheet. Teachers were given a survey about their level of knowledge about oral health. The result was that the majority of teachers surveyed presented an average level of knowledge (47.2%) about oral health. By gender, females predominated with an average level of knowledge (52.6%), followed by males with a high level of knowledge (45.7%). By age, the 33- to 38-year-old age group predominated, with a low level of knowledge (68.3%); and by level of regular basic education, the average level of knowledge (47.4%) stood out compared to the primary level and the secondary level (47.2%). The conclusion was that the teachers at the Educational Institution had an average level of knowledge.
