Natural disasters are harmful phenomena that occur worldwide, making the response capacity of health personnel and the population to these eventualities crucial. The objective was to determine the association between the level of knowledge and the attitudes of nursing staff in critical units in the face of natural disasters in a public hospital in the district of Chiclayo, 2024. The sample consisted of 79 nurses, selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. For data collection, two adapted questionnaires were used, validated by expert judgments, with a V-Aiken coefficient = 1, p = 0.004. The first instrument showed a reliability of 0.826; the second (attitudes) obtained a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.858. It was found that knowledge and attitudes towards disasters of nursing professionals have a weak negative correlation (Rho = -0.276) significant (p = 0.010). In addition, 76% of nurses in critical units have a moderate knowledge about natural disasters, while 94% of professionals show a positive attitude. Finally, it was concluded that there is no association between knowledge and attitudes towards natural disasters in nurses in critical areas, therefore, it is recommended to implement training to provide information and motivate staff on an ongoing basis.
