Resumen
El propósito de la enfermería es ayudar a personas, familias y comunidad en la prevención y el manejo de las experiencias vinculadas con la enfermedad y el sufrimiento, por ello la relación enfermera-familia durante la hospitalización en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) es crucial para garantizar una atención integral y fomentar la colaboración en el cuidado. El objetivo del presente estudio es describir, analizar y comprender la relación entre enfermera y familia del paciente hospitalizado en Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de un hospital público de Chiclayo, 2024. El estudio se desarrolló utilizando la metodología cualitativa descriptiva. La población estuvo compuesta por familiares encargados del cuidado del paciente hospitalizado en el área de UCI en el Hospital Las Mercedes. El muestreo fue no probabilístico por conveniencia, y el tamaño de la muestra se determinó bajo los criterios de saturación y redundancia, alcanzado con 12 familiares. Para la obtención de datos, se empleó una guia de entrevista semiestructurada validada por cuatro expertos. Los datos recolectados fueron analizados mediante análisis de contenido temático, además la investigación se realizóbajo principios éticos y de rigor científico. Se obtuvo como resultado 3 categorías: a) Comunicación e interacción entre la enfermera y la familia, b) Apoyo integral a la familia: aspectos psicoemocionales, c) Colaboración en el cuidado del paciente: rol del profesional de enfermería y participación familiar. Como conclusión la relación enfermera-familia en UCI esta centrada en aspectos técnicos, lo que destaca la necesidad de fortalecer comunicación y la empatía para mejorar la atención integral.
The purpose of nursing is to help individuals, families, and the community in the prevention and management of experiences related to illness and suffering, which is why the nurse-family relationship during hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is crucial to ensure comprehensive care and promote collaboration in care. The objective of this study is to describe, analyze, and understand the relationship between nurse and family of patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of a public hospital in Chiclayo, 2024. The study was developed using the qualitative descriptive methodology. The population was composed of family members in charge of the care of the hospitalized patient in the ICU area at Las Mercedes Hospital. The sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience, and the sample size was determined under the criteria of saturation and redundancy, reached with 12 relatives. To obtain data, a semi-structured interview guide validated by four experts was used. The data collected were analyzed through thematic content analysis, and the research was carried out under ethical principles and scientific rigor. The result was 3 categories: a) Communication and interaction between the nurse and the family, b) Comprehensive support for the family: psycho-emotional aspects, c) Collaboration in patient care: role of the nursing professional and family participation. In conclusion, the nurse-family relationship in the ICU is focused on technical aspects, which highlights the need to strengthen communication and empathy to improve comprehensive care.
