Resumen
El cuidado enfermero desempeña un rol importante en el proceso de alta de los neonatos ya que su sistema fisiológico es vulnerable, ante esto, las enfermeras tienen que brindar cuidados esenciales y educar adecuadamente a los padres para que puedan ofrecer un buen cuidado en el hogar al recién nacido. El objetivo de este estudio será: Describir el cuidado brindado por las enfermeras al familiar para el alta del neonato en un hospital público de Chiclayo, 2025. La investigación será cualitativa, descriptiva. La población incluyó padres de familia del Hospital Docente las Mercedes. Se trabajó con una muestra de 12 padres, seleccionados mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se utilizó como instrumento una entrevista semiestructurada que fue validada por expertos. Los datos recolectados se analizaron por un análisis de contenido. Como resultado se obtuvo 4 categorías: Educación y orientación al alta enfocada en la preparación de los padres para el cuidado del recién nacido en casa, formas diferentes de aprender de los padres, identificando el estado de salud de sus hijos, barreras en el proceso de alta y comunicación y la subcategoría denominada, factores estructurales y contextuales que afectan el proceso de educación y cuidado. Se concluye que la orientación y educación que brindan las enfermeras antes del alta resulta importante para que los padres desarrollen confianza, adquieran conocimientos sobre los cuidados básicos y aprendan a identificar signos de alarma en sus hijos, aunque persisten limitaciones en la comunicación. En consecuencia, se recomienda fortalecer los protocolos de orientación con estrategias claras, prácticas y empáticas, garantizar condiciones adecuadas para la educación de los padres y promover investigaciones futuras que aporten estrategias innovadoras que aseguren un alta segura y de calidad para el recién nacido.
Nursing care plays a crucial role in the discharge process of newborns, as their physiological systems are still immature and highly susceptible to complications. Therefore, nurses must provide essential care and deliver appropriate education to parents so they are prepared to care for their newborns at home. The aim of this study was to describe the nursing care provided to family members during the neonatal discharge process at a public hospital in Chiclayo in 2025. This research followed a qualitative, descriptive approach. The study population consisted of parents of newborns hospitalized at Hospital Docente Las Mercedes. A sample of 12 parents was selected using non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview, which was previously validated by expert judgment. The information obtained was analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings revealed four main categories: discharge education and guidance focused on preparing parents for home-based newborn care; diverse learning approaches adopted by parents; parental recognition of their newborns’ health status; and barriers related to communication during the discharge process. Additionally, a subcategory emerged addressing structural and contextual factors that influence education and caregiving practices. In conclusion, the education and guidance provided by nurses prior to discharge are essential for fostering parental confidence, enhancing knowledge of basic newborn care, and enabling early identification of warning signs. However, limitations in communication remain evident. Consequently, it is recommended to strengthen discharge education protocols through clear, practical, and empathetic strategies, ensure adequate conditions for parental education, and encourage future research aimed at developing innovative approaches that promote safe and high-quality neonatal discharge.
