Pain is a public health problem that, in childhood, requires special attention, given that children have difficulty expressing their pain. Although international guidelines support its management as a right, several factors limit their application, directly affecting the quality of care. Objective: To describe, analyze, and understand nurses' perceptions of barriers to interventions for the management of pediatric pain in a public hospital in Chiclayo, 2025. Materials and methods: Qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The population included 15 nursing professionals from the pediatric and/or pediatric emergency services. The sample consisted of 12 of them, selected according to the saturation and redundancy criteria, using non-probability convenience sampling. A semi-structured interview was used for data collection; it was validated by four experts and subjected to the thematic content analysis process, ensuring compliance with ethical principles and scientific rigor. Results: Three categories were obtained: 1) Institutional conditions that hinder the management of pediatric pain, 2) Obstacles in the evaluation and expression of pain in the child, 3) Family intervention in the management of pediatric pain. Conclusions: The findings show that the management of pediatric pain constitutes a complex challenge that transcends the technical competencies of nursing staff, since various barriers limit the timely and effective application of interventions, directly affecting the well-being of the patient.
