Introduction: It is essential that doctors have knowledge of what bioethics deals with and apply it in the work stage, achieving a higher quality of care for the patient. However, there is concern about the impact that bioethics generates in medical training and factors that negatively affect the level of application of bioethical principles. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and application of bioethical principles of physicians who perform outpatient consultations at the HRL in 2023. Material and methods: Quantitative, descriptive, cross sectional and observational study. Simple random sampling. A questionnaire and an observation guide were used as instruments that measure the level of knowledge and application of bioethical principles. The data obtained were recorded in Microsoft Excel 2013. Results: A large part of doctors who perform outpatient consultations have an excellent level of knowledge of these principles (72.8%). In addition, the bioethical principle they know the most is Autonomy, while the one they know the least is Beneficence. On the other hand, the mayority of doctors always apply bioethical principles during outpatient consultations (57.6%). Furthermore, the bioethical principle that they apply the most is non-maleficence; while the one that they apply the least is Autonomy. Conclusions: The level of knowledge and application of doctors who perform outpatient consultations at the Lambayeque Regional Hospital in 2023 is adequate, that is, they have demonstrated that they have an excellent level of knowledge about bioethics and always apply bioethical principles when caring for patients in the outpatient clinic.
