Adolescence is a transitional stage characterized by significant changes, emotional vulnerability, and difficulty regulating impulses. During this period, it is essential for adolescents to develop self-awareness and self-regulation strategies that promote adequate control of their internal processes and the resolution of situations specific to this stage. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between self-control and coping styles in secondary school students from Chiclayo, 2023. A quantitative, correlational, nonexperimental, cross-sectional, and prospective design was used. The sample consisted of 80 fourth- and fifth-year students from a public educational institution, selected through purposive non-probability sampling. The Peruvian adaptation of the Adolescent Coping Scales (ACS) and the Child and Adolescent Self-Control Questionnaire (CACIA) were administered. The results showed a predominance of the strategies Keeping It to Yourself, Ignoring the Problem, Trying Hard and Succeeding, Self-Blame, Stress Reduction, Investing in Close Friends, Seeking Belonging, and Lack of Coping or Non-Coping, in addition to a medium level of self-control. It is concluded that there is a significant correlation only between the coping styles of social action and physical distraction and self-control.
