Resumen
Objetivo: Describir las características clínico-epidemiológicas de pacientes adultos con Infección en el sitio operatorio (ISO) del Servicio de Cirugía General en el Hospital Regional Lambayeque, enero-mayo 2023. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, observacional, de cohorte, prospectivo, cuya población estuvo constituida por todos los pacientes intervenidos quirúrgicamente en el hospital en mención durante los meses de enero-mayo de 2023 que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. Resultados: La mediana de edad de los pacientes con ISO fue 59 años y el 52% fueron del sexo masculino. El 32% tuvieron sobrepeso y obesidad, uno de cada tres anemia. El 88% fueron pacientes con clasificación ASA II y III. Seis de cada
10 fueron operados de emergencia. El 50% fueron pacientes con herida limpia-contaminada. El 44% fueron sometidos a apendicetomía abierta, ileostomía o hernioplastía inguinal y/o crural.
La incidencia de ISO fue de 11,6% y la mediana del tiempo de presentación de la ISO fue de 5 días luego de la cirugía. La ISO superficial representó 80%. Conclusión: La tasa de incidencia de ISO fue de 11,6%, siendo la tasa de incidencia por tipo de herida: limpia, limpia contaminada, contaminada y sucia de 2,1%; 10,2%; 15,6% y 27,6% respectivamente. El sobrepeso-obesidad y anemia fueron las características presentes con mayor frecuencia en pacientes con ISO. La mediana del tiempo de aparición de ISO fue de 5 días; de las cuales el 72% se presentó durante la hospitalización; presentando los casos de ISO una mediana de estancia hospitalaria postoperatoria de 8 días.

Results: The median age of the patients with SSI was 59 years and 52% were male. Thirty-two percent were overweight and obese, one out of three had anemia. Eighty-eight percent were patients with ASA classification II and III. Six out of 10 underwent emergency surgery. Fifty percent were patients with clean-contaminated wound. Forty-four percent underwent open appendectomy, ileostomy or inguinal and/or crural hernioplasty. The incidence of SSI was 11.6% and the median of time to presentation of SSI was five days after surgery. Superficial SSI accounted for 80%. Conclusion: The incidence rate of SSI was 11.6%, being the incidence rate by wound type, clean, clean contaminated, contaminated and dirty 2.1%; 10.2%; 15.6% and 27.6% respectively. Overweight-obesity, and anemia were the characteristics most frequently present in patients with SSI. The median time of onset of SSI was five days; 72% of which occurred during hospitalization; presenting cases of SSI during hospitalization had a median postoperative stay of eigth days.
