Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo general comparar las diferencias en el nivel de satisfacción laboral percibidas por las generaciones X e Y en una entidad pública. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo comparativo y diseño no experimental transversal. La población estuvo conformada por 134 trabajadores, pertenecientes a ambas generaciones, y se aplicó un cuestionario de satisfacción laboral estructurado en cuatro dimensiones: factores económicos, condiciones laborales, factores sociales y factores de motivación. Se empleó la prueba U de Mann-Whitney. Los resultados evidenciaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ambas generaciones. En donde la generación X se ubicó predominantemente en niveles medios de satisfacción, mientras que la generación Y mostró mayores proporciones en el nivel bajo, especialmente en las dimensiones de condiciones laborales y factores sociales. Concluyendo, que existen diferencias relevantes en la forma en que cada generación percibe su entorno laboral, lo cual implica que las políticas institucionales deben considerar enfoques diferenciados por cohortes generacionales para mejorar la satisfacción y el compromiso organizacional.
The general objective of this study was to compare the differences in the level of job satisfaction perceived by generations X and Y in a public entity. The research was developed under a quantitative, comparative and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 134 workers, belonging to both generations, and a job satisfaction questionnaire structured in four dimensions was applied: economic factors, working conditions, social factors and motivational factors. The Mann-Whitney U test was used. The results showed statistically significant differences between the two generations. Generation X was predominantly located in the medium levels of satisfaction, while generation Y showed higher proportions in the low level, especially in the dimensions of working conditions and social factors. In conclusion, there are relevant differences in the way each generation perceives its work environment, which implies that institutional policies should consider differentiated approaches by generational cohorts to improve satisfaction and organizational commitment.
