Percepción sobre efectos en la salud del consumo de agua con arsénico en adultos jóvenes del caserío Lagunas -Mórrope, 2024

Abstract

El arsénico suele contaminar aguas subterráneas usadas para el consumo humano especialmente en áreas rurales afectando a la salud. La investigación tuvo como objetivo describir, analizar y comprender la percepción sobre efectos en la salud del consumo de agua con arsénico en adultos jóvenes del caserío Lagunas-Mórrope, 2024. La investigación fue cualitativa, con abordaje descriptivo, el tamaño de la muestra comprendió a 12 adultos jóvenes; la muestra se determinó por saturación y redundancia y el muestreo fue por el método de bola de nieve. Para recolectar los datos se utilizó la entrevista semiestructurada, validada por expertos. Se procesaron y analizaron los datos mediante el método de análisis de contenido según Bardin. Entre los resultados se obtuvieron cinco categorías: a) Percepción de efectos en el sistema digestivo y tegumentario por el consumo del agua con arsénico, b) Percepción de efectos en el sistema hematológico por el consumo del agua con arsénico, c) Percepción de efectos en el sistema osteomuscular por el consumo del agua con arsénico, d) Percepción de efectos en la gestación por el consumo del agua con arsénico y e) Percepción de complicaciones carcinogénicas por el consumo del agua con arsénico. Se concluye que los adultos jóvenes perciben diversos efectos en la salud a corto y largo plazo relacionados con el consumo continuo de agua con arsénico, sin embargo, sienten la indiferencia de las autoridades gubernamentales que no llegan a dar mantenimiento o a instalar filtros intradomiciliarios de agua para mitigar el problema, además de su débil organización comunitaria.Arsenic often contaminates groundwater used for human consumption, especially in rural areas, affecting health. The objective of the research was to describe, analyze and understand the perception of the health effects of arsenic water consumption in young adults in the Lagunas-Morrope hamlet, 2024. The research was qualitative, with a descriptive approach, the sample size comprised 12 young adults; the sample was determined by saturation and redundancy and the sampling was by the snowball method. The semi-structured interview, validated by experts, was used to collect data. The data were processed and analyzed using the content analysis method according to Bardin. Among the results, five categories were obtained: a) Perception of effects on the digestive and integumentary system due to consumption of arsenic water, b) Perception of effects on the hematological system due to consumption of arsenic water, c) Perception of effects on the musculoskeletal system due to consumption of arsenic water, d) Perception of effects on gestation due to consumption of arsenic water, and e) Perception of carcinogenic complications due to consumption of arsenic water. It is concluded that young adults perceive various health effects in the short and long term related to the continuous consumption of water with arsenic, however, they feel the indifference of government authorities who fail to provide maintenance or install intra-household water filters to mitigate the problem, in addition to their weak community organization.
