Cuidados y repercusiones en el cuidador familiar de adultos mayores dependientes en Eten, 2025

Abstract

A medida que las personas envejecen, experimentan cambios físicos, psicológicos y sociales que aumentan su dependencia. Proceso que implica cuidados que afectan tanto a quienes lo reciben como a sus cuidadores. El objetivo fue determinar y describir los cuidados y las repercusiones en el cuidador familiar en adultos mayores dependientes en Eten, 2025. Estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal y descriptivo. La muestra incluyó 136 cuidadores familiares. Se utilizó el cuestionario ICUB97, basado en la teoría de Henderson, cuenta con validación de expertos y de constructo por emparejamiento con el índice de Barthel (r=0,58 p<0,001). Presenta una fiabilidad de Test-retest para las tres. Se realizó respetando principios éticos. Los resultados se analizaron en Excel, con el complemento MegaStat. En donde se obtuvo que el 100 % adecúan las condiciones del hogar, más del 90,00 % hace de intermediario con el equipo de salud, le hace compañía y le facilita vivir según sus creencias y valores. Las repercusiones que ocasionó el cuidado, la mayoría redujo su economía, necesita conocimientos y/o habilidades para cuidar, se ha alterado su vida familiar y menos de la cuarta parte cambió sus creencias y/o valores. Se concluye que el rol de cuidador de adultos mayores dependientes implica un impacto físico, emocional y económico.As people age, they experience physical, psychological, and social changes that increase their dependency. This process involves caregiving that affects both those who receive it and their caregivers. The objective was to determine and describe the caregiving and its impact on family caregivers in dependent older adults in Eten, 2025. This was a quantitative, nonexperimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. The sample included 136 family caregivers. The ICUB97 questionnaire was used, based on Henderson's theory. It has been validated by experts and construct-matched with the Barthel index (r = 0.58 p < 0.001). It has test-retest reliability for all three. The process was carried out in compliance with ethical principles. The results were analyzed in Excel using the MegaStat add-in. It was found that 100% of caregivers adapted their home conditions, and more than 90 % acted as intermediaries with the healthcare team, provided company, and facilitated living according to their beliefs and values. The impact of caregiving has reduced their finances, most patients require knowledge and/or skills to care for their children, their family life has been disrupted, and less than a quarter have changed their beliefs and/or values. It is concluded that the role of caregiver for dependent older adults involves a physical, emotional and economic impact.
