Relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal de padres y hábitos de higiene oral en niños, Chiclayo, 2024

Abstract

Los padres desempeñan un papel muy importante en desarrollo de hábitos en sus hijos, y son ellos los afectados de manera directa respecto a su forma de vivir y, la salud bucal no es ajena a ello. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal de padres y hábitos de higiene oral en niños de una Institución Educativa de la ciudad de Chiclayo, durante el año 2024. Esta investigación fue de tipo cuantitativo, transversal; conformada por 240 estudiantes junto a un padre o tutor, los cuales fueron seleccionados según los criterios de selección, incluyendo a estudiantes de 06 a 12 años matriculados en el año académico, que deseen participar voluntariamente en la investigación, que sean colaboradores, así como también, padres de familia que firmen el consentimiento informado y que hayan acudido a las reuniones programadas. Todos ellos fueron encuestados sobre hábitos de higiene oral y nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal respectivamente. Se tuvo como resultado que las variables estudiadas presentaron un grado de correlación de 0.01, por lo que tenían una relación directa. En cuanto a las dimensiones del nivel de conocimiento, resaltó la dimensión dieta con un valor de 94.2%, siendo muy bueno. Los padres con educación secundaria tenían 47.5% tenían un nivel de conocimiento muy alto; y el 56.3% de las niñas presentaron un nivel muy bueno de hábitos de higiene oral. Concluyendo que, a más conocimiento sobre salud bucal de padres, mejores hábitos de higiene tienen los niños.

Parents play a very important role in the development of their children's habits, and they are directly affected by their lifestyle, and oral health is no exception. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between parents' level of oral health knowledge and oral hygiene habits in children at an educational institution in the city of Chiclayo during the year 2024. This research was quantitative and cross-sectional; it consisted of 240 students, along with a parent or guardian, who were selected according to the selection criteria. These included students aged 6 to 12 enrolled during the academic year, who voluntarily wished to participate in the research, who were collaborators, as well as parents who signed the informed consent form and attended the scheduled meetings. All of them were surveyed about oral hygiene habits and level of oral health knowledge, respectively. The variables studied showed a correlation of 0.01, indicating a direct relationship. Regarding the dimensions of knowledge level, the diet dimension stood out with a score of 94.2%, which is very good. Of the parents with secondary education, 47.5% had a very high level of knowledge; and 56.3% of the girls had very good oral hygiene habits. The conclusion is that the more parents' knowledge about oral health, the better their children's hygiene habits.
