During the internship in the last year of the professional nursing career, students strengthen their professional identification, assuming a leading role with the patients in their care; however, it constitutes a professional challenge that is reflected in their performance and their preparation to face the working world. The objective was to describe the perceptions of nurses about the care provided by the nursing intern in a hospital in Chiclayo, 2024. The methodology used was a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The population consisted of 40 nurses from the Surgery and Internal Medicine Area. The sample consisted of 12 nurses, determined by saturation, the sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience and the semi-structured interview, validated by the judgment of experts in the subject. After approval by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, the pilot test was carried out. The data were processed by thematic content analysis. Throughout the research, the bioethical principles proposed by Elio Sgreccia and principles of scientific rigor that ensure the validity and quality of the research were applied. Three categories were obtained: I) Nursing intern care with a human approach, II) Nursing care with a safe and committed approach, III) Nursing intern care in the face of difficulties and fears. It is concluded that the care provided is adequate because it incorporates attitudes, values, knowledge and technical skills, but there are deficiencies in spiritual care and technical skills need to be reinforced.
