Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimientos sobre diabetes mellitus en pacientes con obesidad del Hospital Belén de Lambayeque, 2024. Metodología: Estudio correlacional, transversal, con un tamaño muestral de 264 participantes, obtenido para un 95% de nivel de confianza, frecuencia anticipada del 50% y 1 de efecto de diseño. El instrumento utilizado fue el cuestionario SKILLD. El procesamiento de la información se llevó a cabo mediante el software SPSS versión 25 y se emplearon herramientas de estadística descriptiva para las variables cualitativas y medidas de tendencia central para las variables cuantitativas. Resultados: El estudio se conformó por 264 pacientes de las cuales 137 fueron mujeres (51,9%) y 127 hombres (48,1%); de donde se obtuvo que el 53.8% tienen bajo conocimiento en relación al conocimiento general sobre la enfermedad, 79.9% tiene conocimiento bajo en medidas preventivas mientras que 62.1% tiene conocimiento alto sobre las consecuencias de la diabetes mellitus; con respecto al sexo, el grupo femenino tuvo un mayor número de participantes con conocimiento bajo en comparación con el grupo masculino; asimismo en relación al nivel educativo, 61.4% del total culmino los estudios de educación básica regular y solo 25.8% del total tiene educación superior completa y se aprecia una disminución en el conocimiento bajo y un aumento en el conocimiento alto a medida que se avanza en el nivel educativo. Conclusión: El nivel de conocimientos sobre diabetes mellitus (DM) en pacientes con obesidad atendidos en el Hospital Belén de Lambayeque es predominantemente bajo.

Data processing was carried out using SPSS version 25 software, and descriptive statistics were used for qualitative variables and measures of central tendency for quantitative variables. Results: The study included 264 patients, of whom 137 were women (51.9%) and 127 were men (48.1%). The results showed that 53.8% had low knowledge regarding general knowledge about the disease, 79.9% had low knowledge of preventive measures, and 62.1% had high knowledge about the consequences of diabetes mellitus. Regarding sex, the female group had a higher number of participants with low knowledge compared to the male group; likewise, in relation to educational level, 61.4% of the total completed basic education and only 25.8% had completed higher education. A decrease in low knowledge and an increase in high knowledge were observed as educational level increased.
