Estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, descriptivo y transversal.
Neonatal screening is a technique performed on all newborns with the purpose of detecting congenital diseases. The objective of the study was to determine the level of knowledge of postpartum mothers about Neonatal Screening of the Joint Accommodation service at Las Mercedes Hospital, 2023. Quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population was 240 mothers in the rooming-in service, the sample was 148 parents, the sampling was non-probabilistic, for convenience. The technique used was the survey, the instrument was the questionnaire “Knowledge Questionnaire on Neonatal Screening”, which had a validation of judgment by 8 experts with a significant agreement between the judges of 0.039; It had a very high reliability of Cronbach's Alpha of 0.821. The instrument consisted of 20 items divided into 2 parts, the first in relation to general data and the second to the dimensions of the study variable. The data processing and analysis plan was developed in the Excel program, descriptive statistics were applied, relative and absolute frequencies were calculated, and they were presented in a bar graph. The result was: that postpartum mothers have a medium level of knowledge: 62.16% about neonatal screening; 76.35% on the test and 59.46 on the procedure. According to Sgreccia, this research was based on the principle of personalist bioethics, respecting the principles of defense of physical life, freedom and responsibility, sociability and subsidiarity.
