Objective: Determine the correlation between disease activity and functional capacity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated at Hospital Regional Lambayeque in 2024. Methods: A quantitative, analytical, correlational, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted, including 136 patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis who were seen at the outpatient rheumatology clinic. Disease activity was assessed using the Disease Activity Score–28 (DAS28), and functional capacity was evaluated using the Peruvian version of the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ-P), both recommended for use in clinical practice guidelines applicable in the country. Results: A higher percentage of participants were female (94.10%). The median age was 52 years, and the mean disease duration was 5 years. The most commonly used treatment was monotherapy (51.50%), mainly with methotrexate (44.90%). The DAS28 score showed a median of 3.68 points, with a predominance of patients in the moderate disease activity category (43.40%). The HAQ-P score had a median of 1.29 points, indicating mostly mild disability (44.10%) or moderate disability (24.30%). Spearman’s correlation analysis revealed a moderate positive correlation between DAS28 and HAQ-P (rho = 0.410; p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a moderate and statistically significant positive correlation between disease activity and functional disability in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
