However, due to the demands of their profession, they experience levels of work stress, affecting the quality of work, performance and physical, cognitive and emotional well-being of teachers, manifesting fatigue as evidenced by yawning and drowsy faces. The research sought to determine the relationship between work stress and sleep quality in regular elementary school teachers in Cajamarca, and the specific objectives were to identify the relationship between the dimensions of both variables and to identify if there are differences according to sex and age. A non-experimental correlational-comparative design was used, with a sample of 233 teachers, selected from a non-probabilistic purposive sample of 117 men and 116 women, aged 22-67 years (M=44.1, SD=10.9). The instruments used were the ILO-WHO Work Stress Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, obtaining a reliability of 0.966 and 0.56 respectively. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between job stress and sleep quality (Rho=.414***, p< .001). In addition, a moderate relationship was evidenced between subjective quality, sleep latency, sleep disturbances and daytime dysfunction with the dimensions of job stress; finally, no differences were found in the sociodemographic variables of sex and age. In conclusion, if job stress in teachers increases, they tend to experience worse sleep quality.
