Sleep disturbance in people with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a risk factor that alters metabolic control due to high levels of cortisol, TNF-alpha, interleukin 6 and C-reactive protein, which causes increased insulin resistance. For this reason, a quantitative research was carried out, with a descriptive correlational non-experimental design; the objective of which was to determine the sociodemographic factors related to sleep quality in people with Diabetes Mellitus in a Health Center in Chiclayo, 2024. The study subjects were adults diagnosed with type 2 DM of both sexes, over 18 years of age, with treatment for more than 6 months, the sample was 195 adults and non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used. Interviews were conducted in person and/or by telephone, applying the sociodemographic factors questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (? = 0.746). The data were presented in tables, frequency and proportions were used and Pearson's coefficient (p <0.05) was used to correlate variables. Belmont's ethical principles were considered. The results show that the majority were women, with a secondary education level, live with a partner and have paid employment; according to the sleep quality rating, 67% deserve medical attention and treatment and sociodemographic factors such as sex (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05), and marital status (p-value = 0.037 < 0.05) are significantly related to sleep quality. The findings show that the evaluation of sleep hygiene is crucial in the comprehensive care of people with type 2 diabetes, sleep quality depends not only on disease factors but is also related to sociodemographic factors.
