Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar las características clínicas y laboratoriales del COVID-19 severo en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en un hospital de Chiclayo. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal, retrospectivo de un solo centro y censal. Se evaluaron historias clínicas de 172 pacientes con diabetes mellitus 2 y COVID-19 severo en los años 2020-2022.
Se analizaron los datos con el programa PSPP v.1.6.0. Resultados: La media de la población fue de 60,2 años. La mayoría de pacientes presentaba diabetes como la única comorbilidad, seguida de la hipertensión arterial. Disnea, malestar general y tos fueron los síntomas más frecuentes. El valor laboratorial de tiempo de protrombina fue el único con valores normales.
Conclusiones: El sexo masculino tuvo el mayor número de ingresos y fallecidos, además se encontró un alto porcentaje de personas diagnosticadas por primera vez con diabetes mellitus.
Los parámetros laboratoriales AST, ALT, LDH, dímero D, PCR y ferritina se encontraron elevados.

Medical records of 172 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and severe COVID-19 were evaluated in the years 2020-2022. The data were analyzed with the PSPP v.1.6.0 program. Results: The average of the population was 60.2 years. The majority of patients had diabetes as the only comorbidity, followed by high blood pressure. Dyspnea, general malaise and cough were the most frequent symptoms. The laboratory value of prothrombin time was the only one with normal values. Conclusions: The male sex had the highest number of admissions and deaths, in addition, a high percentage of people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus for the first time was found. The laboratory parameters AST, ALT, LDH, D-dimer, CRP and ferritin were found to be elevated.
