In recent decades, Latin American society has evolved exponentially in social, economic, family, and other aspects. This situation causes the concept and morphology of a basic and essential space like housing to have to change in such a way that it signifies a connection with its current occupants. At present, that longed-for relationship is almost nonexistent, since we observe that housing maintains a concept that does not relate correctly to the changing members who inhabit it. This situation is explicitly present in popular housing located in peripheral, newly established, or informal sectors of cities, which is why the R, K, and L blocks of the “Ciudad del Chofer” urbanization in Chiclayo are taken as the study area. In response to the need to solve the existing problems in housing that is disconnected from the characteristics and needs of its occupants, this research seeks to recognize, collect, and determine the basic attributes of an architecture capable of allowing a direct connection between both factors. To achieve this, the study was structured in three stages of descriptive analysis and one of results. The occupants, their popular housing, and the residential references of open architecture were analyzed and described, concluding with the determination of the optimal open architecture attributes to achieve the desired relationship and integration in the specific situations presented.
