Alfabetización sanitaria y conocimiento sobre la enfermedad en pacientes hipertensos de un centro de salud de Chiclayo, 2024

Abstract

La investigación de diseño no experimental, correlacional y transversal, tuvo por objetivo determinar la relación entre alfabetización sanitaria y conocimiento sobre la enfermedad en pacientes hipertensos de un centro de salud de Chiclayo, 2024. La muestra censal fue de 122 pacientes hipertensos, muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia, 7 de ellos no participaron. Se usó como instrumento de recolección de datos la Escala de Alfabetización en Salud (HLS-EU-Q12M) y Cuestionario sobre Conocimientos de la Hipertensión. Con la aprobación del comité de ética de investigación institucional, se realizó una prueba piloto (Alfa de Cronbach 0.8 y Kuder Richardson 0.7). Los datos fueron procesados con el programa Excel 2016 y analizados por el paquete estadístico para las ciencias sociales versión 29, para un análisis descriptivo e inferencial. Se fundamentó con los principios de rigor científico y éticos de autonomía, beneficencia, no maleficencia, justicia. Al evaluar la asociación entre las variables se encontró una correlación negativa muy débil y estadísticamente no significativa (Rho=-0,011, p=0,911); los pacientes hipertensos se ubican aproximadamente en igual proporción entre un nivel problemático (40,00 %) y suficiente (37,39 %) de alfabetización sanitaria; y casi tres cuartas partes de los pacientes (73,91 %) tienen un conocimiento adecuado sobre su enfermedad. Se concluye que no existe relación significativa entre alfabetización sanitaria y conocimiento sobre la enfermedad en los pacientes hipertensos, por lo que se acepta la hipótesis nula; además los pacientes enfrentan dificultades para comprender y aplicar información para un manejo efectivo de la hipertensión, prevención, tratamiento adecuado y reducción de complicaciones.

The non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional design research aimed to determine the relationship between health literacy and knowledge about the disease in hypertensive patients from a health center in Chiclayo, 2024. The census sample was 122 hypertensive patients, non-probabilistic convenience sampling, 7 of them did not participate. The Health Literacy Scale (HLS-EU-Q12M) and the Hypertension Knowledge Questionnaire were used as data collection instruments. With the approval of the institutional research ethics committee, a pilot test was carried out (Cronbach's alpha 0.8 and Kuder Richardson 0.7). The data were processed with the Excel 2016 program and analyzed by the statistical package for social sciences version 29, for a descriptive and inferential analysis. It was based on the principles of scientific rigor and ethics of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. When evaluating the association between the variables, a very weak and statistically insignificant negative correlation was found (Rho=-0.011, p=0.911); hypertensive patients are located approximately in equal proportion between a problematic level (40.00%) and sufficient (37.39%) of health literacy; and almost three quarters of patients (73.91%) have adequate knowledge about their disease. It is concluded that there is no significant relationship between health literacy and knowledge about the disease in hypertensive patients, so the null hypothesis is accepted; in addition, patients face difficulties in understanding and applying information for effective management of hypertension, prevention, adequate treatment and reduction of complications.
