Resumen
En el cuidado integral a pacientes psiquiátricos emergen retos complejos para el personal de enfermería, ante la seguridad y protección de sus vulnerabilidades. Objetivo: Analizar, describir y comprender las experiencias del personal de enfermería en el cuidado a pacientes psiquiátricos de un hospital público Chiclayo, 2025. Materiales y métodos: Estudio con enfoque cualitativo, interpretativo- descriptivo, la muestra la conformo 13 integrantes del personal de enfermería, muestra obtenida por saturación y redundancia, con muestreo no probabilístico. Para la obtención de la información se empleó una entrevista semiestructurada validada por tres expertos y estudio piloto. Los datos recolectados pasaron por análisis de contenido temático, durante la investigación se tomó en cuenta el resguardo de principio éticos y de rigor científico. Resultados: Surgieron 3 categorías: A) Prioridades del cuidado al paciente psiquiátrico como persona integral, B) Acontecimientos complejos con actuación del equipo multidisciplinario, con uso de estrategias salvadoras en la atención al paciente psiquiátrico, C) Repercusiones del cuidado al paciente psiquiátrico: crecimiento personal, profesional y social. Conclusiones: Se consideró que el manejo de situaciones críticas por el personal de enfermería en pacientes psiquiátricos evidencia que la efectividad de su cuidado depende de la firmeza, así como de la capacidad de organización y adaptación, su intervención respaldada por el trabajo en conjunto del equipo multidisciplinario permite transformar momentos de tensión en acciones controladas, demostrando que la articulación de funciones son esenciales para afrontar la complejidad en estos entornos.
Comprehensive care for psychiatric patients poses complex challenges for nursing staff in terms of the safety and protection of their vulnerabilities. Objective: To analyze, describe, and understand the experiences of nursing staff in caring for psychiatric patients in a public hospital in Chiclayo, 2025. Materials and methods: Qualitative, interpretive-descriptive study. The sample consisted of 13 nursing staff members, obtained by saturation and redundancy, with non-probabilistic sampling. A semi-structured interview validated by three experts and a pilot study was used to obtain the information. The data collected underwent thematic content analysis, and ethical principles and scientific rigor were taken into account during the research. Results: Three categories emerged: A) Priorities in the care of psychiatric patients as whole persons, B) Complex events involving the multidisciplinary team, with the use of life-saving strategies in the care of psychiatric patients, C) Repercussions of psychiatric patient care: personal, professional, and social growth. Conclusions: It was considered that the management of critical situations by nursing staff in psychiatric patients shows that the effectiveness of their care depends on firmness, as well as on the capacity for organization and adaptation. Their intervention, supported by the joint work of the multidisciplinary team, allows moments of tension to be transformed into controlled actions, demonstrating that the articulation of functions is essential to deal with complexity in these environments.
