Nowadays, emotions have taken a crucial role in personal wellbeing and success, as they influence at all times and significantly in the daily lives of all individuals. In classrooms, children show negative behaviors when they are unable to self-regulate their emotions; which highlights the need to inculcate emotional education from early childhood. Based on this, the present research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the emotional education workshop to promote self-regulation in five-year-old children. The design used was preexperimental, with a sample of 24 students. The pretest and posttest evaluated the current level of self-regulation of five-year-old children, taking into account the following dimensions: emotional awareness, emotional expression, impulse control, conflict resolution and social interaction. The results obtained demonstrated the effectiveness of the workshop by showing significant improvements in all the dimensions evaluated. In the initial evaluation, most of the children were at a low level with 42% at the “beginning” level, only 8% were at the “satisfactory” level. However, once the workshop was applied, 50% of the students managed to reach the “satisfactory” level. In conclusion, the results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of the workshop, highlighting the relevance of including emotional education as part of basic education.
