Resumen
La presente investigación buscó describir el uso de ChatGTP en la redacción de textos académicos en estudiantes universitarios de primer ciclo. Asimismo, tuvo como objetivos específicos identificar las percepciones previas de los estudiantes universitarios respecto de la herramienta ChatGPT y su utilidad para mejorar la calidad de los textos académicos; identificar las principales características del uso del ChatGPT en la redacción de este tipo de textos; y, finalmente, identificar las ventajas y desventajas del uso del ChatGPT frente a otros métodos tradicionales de redacción académica. Se utilizó una metodología mixta, de tipo descriptiva, no experimental. Se tuvo como escenario la ciudad de Chiclayo, como sujetos de investigación a estudiantes de primer ciclo de diferentes universidades de la localidad en mención, y como instrumento validado de recolección de datos, un cuestionario. Los resultados mostraron que los participantes utilizan ChatGPT para buscar información, por ser una herramienta que genera contenido de manera inmediata, siendo esta su principal ventaja. Sin embargo, señalaron también que la información que ofrece ChatGPT no siempre es fiable y requiere de verificaciones. Por otro lado, se encontró que, aunque ChatGPT es capaz de corregir errores gramaticales u ortográficos, los usuarios no lo utilizan para eso, aunque sí con fines de parafraseo, buscando que el contenido generado sea tan original para evitar el plagio. Finalmente, se tuvo que las principales desventajas del uso de ChatGPT recaen sobre los usuarios, apreciándose entre ellas la dependencia excesiva y la necesidad de verificación adicional.
The present research sought to describe the use of ChatGTP in the writing of academic texts in first-cycle university students. Likewise, the specific objectives were to identify the previous perceptions of university students regarding the ChatGPT tool and its usefulness to improve the quality of academic texts; identify the main characteristics of the use of ChatGPT in writing this type of texts; and, finally, identify the advantages and disadvantages of using ChatGPT compared to other traditional methods of academic writing. A mixed, descriptive, non-experimental methodology was used. The city of Chiclayo was the setting, with first-cycle students from different universities in the town in question as research subjects, and a questionnaire as a validated data collection instrument. The results showed that participants use ChatGPT to search for information, as it is a tool that generates content immediately, this being its main advantage. However, they also noted that the information offered by ChatGPT is not always reliable and requires verification. On the other hand, it was found that, although ChatGPT is capable of correcting grammatical or spelling errors, users don’t use it for that, although they do use it for paraphrasing purposes, seeking to ensure that the generated content is as original as possible to avoid plagiarism. Finally, it was found that the main disadvantages of using ChatGPT fall on the users, including excessive dependency and the need for additional verification.
