Family problems have a decisive influence on the cognitive development of five-year-old children. Factors such as domestic violence, lack of emotional support, and economic instability hinder children's learning, especially in vulnerable areas like Tumán. This learning is crucial for their academic and social development, and domestic violence can impair children's ability to concentrate and learn. The objective is to determine the relationship between family problems and the cognitive development of five-year-old children at the Tumán preschool in 2024. The basic type was used because its primary objective is to understand the relationship between family problems and the cognitive development of five- year-old children. The study design was descriptive-correlational, with a non-probability, purposive sample of 30 children and 30 parents or caregivers. The result was that 100% of the children presented an average level of cognitive learning, and in no case was a high or low level recorded. In summary, this study shows that the family plays a crucial role in the learning process of preschool-aged children. Therefore, it is important for educators and policymakers to consider the influence of the family environment when developing strategies to enhance young children's cognitive development.
