Ansiedad y miedo sobre la atención dental en gestantes que acuden a un centro de salud, provincia de Chiclayo, 2024

Abstract

La ansiedad y el miedo en la atención dental son emociones comunes entre las gestantes, a menudo son influenciadas por mitos y la falta de información, lo que puede afectar negativamente a su salud y al desarrollo del feto. Teniendo en cuenta esta situación, esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general de determinar el nivel de ansiedad y miedo sobre la atención dental en gestantes que acuden a un centro de salud, provincia de Chiclayo. El nivel de investigación fue descriptivo, de tipo básica- transversal, según la fuente de campo, de enfoque cuantitativa, de temporalidad prospectiva y de diseño observacional, dirigida a 98 pacientes gestantes asistentes al área de obstetricia entre los meses noviembre y diciembre, un test con duración de 10 min el cual estuvo previamente validado. En el resultado se observó que predominó el componente de ansiedad leve con el 92% y un puntaje de 8 a 15, además, respecto a la edad predominó el grupo etario de 18 a 31 años con el 75.5% y un nivel de instrucción de categoría superior completa con el 49%, seguida de secundaria completa con 34%. Concluyéndose que, si bien existe presencia de ansiedad relacionada con la atención odontológica en este grupo poblacional, su intensidad es baja, lo que representa una oportunidad favorable para fortalecer estrategias preventivas y educativas desde el primer nivel de atención, con el fin de mantener o reducir aún más estos niveles y garantizar una atención integral, segura y oportuna para la gestante y su bebé.

Anxiety and fear regarding dental care are common emotions among pregnant women. They are often influenced by myths and a lack of information, which can negatively affect their health and fetal development. Given this situation, the general objective of this research was to determine the level of anxiety and fear regarding dental care among pregnant women attending a health center in the province of Chiclayo. The research level was descriptive, basic-crosssectional, based on field sources, quantitative, prospective, and observational in design. The study targeted 98 pregnant patients attending the obstetrics ward between November and December. The test lasted 10 minutes and was previously validated. The results showed a predominance of mild anxiety in 92% of the respondents, with a score of 8 to 15. In addition, the 18 to 31 age group predominated in 75.5% of the respondents, with a higher education level of education in 49%, followed by a secondary education level of education in 34%. It was concluded that, although anxiety related to dental care is present in this population group, its intensity is low, which represents a favorable opportunity to strengthen preventive and educational strategies from the first level of care, in order to maintain or further reduce these levels and guarantee comprehensive, safe, and timely care for the pregnant woman and her baby.
