This research focused on studying the architectural typologies of vernacular houses in Puerto Eten, built between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These structures reflect adaptive solutions to the region’s climatic, social, and economic conditions, while also serving as testimonies of cultural identity and local heritage. However, modernization and deterioration have endangered their preservation, prompting this investigation. The primary objective of the study was to identify, analyze, and catalog the formal, spatial, and constructive characteristics of these houses, classifying them into four main types: beach ranch, fisher’s ranch, balcony house, and compact house. To achieve this, a mixed methodological approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative observations. Fieldwork included mapping, blueprint drafting, photographic documentation, and interviews. Subsequently, the data were processed to establish architectural typologies and variants. The results highlight the formal and functional diversity of these houses, emphasizing their value as architectural heritage. Moreover, the study underscores the urgency of implementing preservation policies to safeguard this cultural legacy. This research not only contributes to historical and architectural knowledge but also provides practical tools for future interventions and heritage management in the region.
