This research addresses the problem of limited competitiveness among beekeepers in the Illimo district, which is associated with deficiencies in their value chain management. In this context, the overall objective was to propose improvement strategies based on a value chain analysis for beekeepers in the Illimo district, enabling them to develop a competitive advantage in this sector. The study was conducted in 2024, using a qualitative approach and a phenomenological design, which allowed for the exploration of the beekeepers' subjective and personal perspectives within their natural environment. The unit of analysis consisted of 10 beekeepers from Illimo, selected based on criteria such as experience in the activity, number of hives, and length of time in the area. This number was justified by the criterion of information saturation. The techniques employed were semi-structured interviews and direct observation, using an interview guide and an observation guide as instruments. The data analysis was conducted using open and axial coding, which allowed for the identification of categories linked to the primary and support activities of the value chain. The results showed that producers carry out their activities empirically, with weaknesses identified primarily in quality control and human resource management, especially regarding training.
