The rising prevalence of mental disorders among adolescents worldwide represents a significant public health concern, particularly during a developmental stage characterized by high biopsychosocial vulnerability. In this context, self-compassion and psychological well-being emerge as key constructs for promoting healthy adolescent development. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being in high school students from San Ignacio, identifying levels of both variables, gender differences, and dimensional relationships. The research employed a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational design with a non-probabilistic sample of 281 students (12-17 years; M=14.3, SD=1.49), using the SelfCompassion Scale (SCS) and Psychological Well-Being Scale (SPWB) adapted to the Peruvian context. Results revealed a moderate and significant correlation between the constructs (r = .543, p<0.001), with not only positive self-compassion dimensions showing this association but also inverse dimensions demonstrating significant positive correlations, albeit weaker. Regarding gender differences, males showed higher prevalence in high self-compassion (21% vs 15%) and psychological well-being levels, while females predominated in medium levels (60% vs 53% in self-compassion). The findings confirm a significant relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being.
