Resumen
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal establecer la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y ansiedad en estudiantes de una universidad privada de Chiclayo en el año 2022. El diseño de investigación fue no experimental y el tipo de estudio, correlacional.
Para ello se contó con la participación de 140 estudiantes cursantes de los ciclos académicos II, IV, VI, VIII y X, matriculados en el semestre académico 2022-II de la carrera de psicología, los cuales fueron elegidos a través de un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Como instrumentos se utilizaron el Inventario de Inteligencia Emocional de BarOn ICE - JA y la Escala de Ansiedad de Zung; ambos adaptados al contexto peruano. Los resultados mostraron una leve tendencia de que, a mayor coeficiente de inteligencia
emocional, menor es el nivel de ansiedad que presentan los estudiantes. Se concluye que existe una correlación negativa baja (r = -0.385; p <?.001) entre las variables de inteligencia emocional y ansiedad. Además, los componentes de adaptabilidad y manejo de estrés tienen una correlación moderada altamente significativa con la ansiedad. Siendo así que las mujeres son las que puntúan con mayor porcentaje en ansiedad, y menor en inteligencia emocional a comparación de los varones. El resumen debe ser redactado en un solo párrafo de forma concisa, objetiva y clara; con una extensión de 150 a 250 palabras como límite.
The main objective of this research was to establish the relationship between emotional intelligence and anxiety in university students of a private university in Chiclayo in the year 2022. The research design was non-experimental and the type of study was correlational. For this purpose, 140 students of the academic cycles II, IV, VI, VIII and X, enrolled in the academic semester 2022-II of the psychology career, were selected through a non probabilistic sampling by convenience. The BarOn ICE - JA Emotional Intelligence Inventory and the Zung Anxiety Scale, both adapted to the Peruvian context, were used as instruments. The results showed a slight tendency that the higher the emotional intelligence coefficient, the lower the level of anxiety presented by the students. It is concluded that there is a low negative correlation (r = -0.385; p < .001) between the variables of emotional intelligence and anxiety. In addition, the components of adaptability and stress management have a highly significant moderate correlation with anxiety. Thus, women scored higher in anxiety and lower in emotional intelligence than men.
