Dengue is an infectious contagious disease that develops with high temperatures and occasional rains, as is the case in the Lambayeque region, which is considered an endemic area. Likewise, the region has been affected in recent years by the El Niño phenomenon, which caused an increase in temperature and heavy rainfall, leading to the reproduction of the vector. The objective of the study was to describe and analyze how the perceptions about educational interventions for the prevention and control of dengue are according to mothers. The study was qualitative in nature, with a population of 300 mothers from the Los Mangos sector, and a sample of 12 mothers was obtained through saturation and redundancy. A semi-structured interview validated by expert judgments was used for data collection. Finally, the data were processed through content analysis. The results yielded three categories: 1) Need for increased home visits, 2) Need for dengue protection implements in households, 3) Dissatisfaction with breeding site cleanup campaigns. It is concluded that mothers perceive a need for home visits as they require counseling on prevention and care of the disease in their homes, as well as the need for protective equipment against the vector donated by government authorities due to their economic situation. They also report not participating in the collection of breeding sites, as they recycle to have an economic income and are aware of whether profits are made from what is collected in the campaigns.
