The experience of grief is universal, which presents unique characteristics for each individual, manifesting through diverse expressions or traditions, with heterogeneous times and particular rhythms. The objective of the research was to describe, analyze and understand the grief experiences lived by caregivers after the loss of a relative in the district of Mórrope, 2025. Qualitative methodology with descriptive and interpretive design was applied. The population was comprised of 30 caregivers, belonging to the adult parochial group of the church of Mórrope. 12 residents of Mórrope participated, determined by criteria of redundancy and saturation. The sampling was non-probabilistic by snowball. For the data collection, the semistructured interview technique was used, validated by expert judgment and pilot study. The obtained data were processed by thematic content analysis. In the course of the research, scientific rigor criteria and personalist ethical principles were used. Among the results, 3 categories emerged: I. First moments of grief due to death in the family caregiver, II. Suffering with sorrow for deceased relative attenuated by their legacy and instilled advice, III. Traditions and cultural practices due to death of a relative. And the conclusions were that grief in caregivers comprises a complex experience, highly influenced by the affective bond with the deceased, values, principles and cultural customs firmly rooted in the community. Furthermore, these mortuary practices allow to express the suffering, honor the memory of the deceased and facilitate a gradual adaptation to a new reality without their presence.
