Resumen
La condición de pobreza que enfrentan algunos adolescentes afecta negativamente su desarrollo cognitivo, social y emocional. Por ello, resultó relevante analizar las habilidades sociales, dado que actúan como un factor protector que favorecen el bienestar personal e interpersonal, tanto en el presente como en el futuro. Por tal motivo, se buscó determinar el nivel de habilidades sociales en adolescentes con nivel socioeconómico bajo de una Institución Educativa Pública de la provincia de Chiclayo, 2022; así como, identificar el nivel de habilidades sociales según sexo, identificar el nivel de habilidades sociales según edad, identificar las diferencias entre los niveles de habilidades sociales por dimensiones según sexo e identificar las diferencias entre los niveles de habilidades sociales por dimensiones según edad. Se trabajó con una muestra no probabilística y un muestreo intencional en 114 estudiantes adolescentes de nivel socioeconómico bajo, siendo el 58.8% mujeres (M=1.59, DE= 0.494). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron la Escala de Habilidades Sociales (EHSA) y la Escala de la Evaluación de los Niveles Socioeconómicos versión modificada 2011-2012, los cuales fueron sometidos a un proceso de validación hallando adecuadas propiedades psicométricas. Se concluyó, que los adolescentes de nivel socioeconómico bajo poseen un
nivel medio de habilidades sociales, además, en ambos sexos prevalece el nivel medio de habilidades sociales, mientras que entre los 12 a 13 años se ubican en un nivel alto y, entre los 14 a 17 años en un nivel medio de habilidades sociales, asimismo, no se observaron diferencias significativas según el sexo y edad.
The condition of poverty faced by some adolescents negatively affects their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Therefore, it was relevant to analyze social skills, as they act as a protective factor that promotes personal and interpersonal well-being, both in the present and in the future. For this reason, the study aimed to determine the level of social skills in adolescents from a low socioeconomic background attending a Public Educational Institution in the province of Chiclayo in 2022. Additionally, it sought to identify the level of social skills according to sex, the level of social skills according to age, the differences in social skill levels by dimensions according to sex, and the differences in social skill levels by dimensions according to age. A non-probabilistic, purposive sampling was used with 114 adolescent students from a low socioeconomic background, of whom 58.8% were female (M = 1.59, SD = 0.494). It was concluded that adolescents from a low socioeconomic background have a medium level of social skills. Moreover, both males and females predominantly displayed a medium level of social skills. Adolescents aged 12 to 13 showed a high level of social skills, whereas those aged 14 to 17exhibited a medium level. Additionally, no significant differences were observed based on sexor age.
