Inteligencia emocional en policías de una comisaría de Chiclayo: diferencias según sexo y edad

Resumen
El ejercicio policial demanda una serie de responsabilidades personales, sociales y comunitarias, asociadas a situaciones de peligro continuas inherentes al rol que ejercer en la sociedad, por lo cual es necesario que cuenten con herramientas y habilidades de manejo emocional, en tal sentido se planteó como objetivo general, determinar las diferencias según sexo y edad sobre inteligencia emocional en policías de una comisaría de Chiclayo, 2023. El diseño de estudio fue no experimental-corte transversal, de alcance descriptivo-comparativo. Los participantes fueron 102 policías, 75 varones y 27 mujeres de 21 a 60 años, activos de una comisaría de la provincia de Chiclayo. La técnica utilizada fue la encuesta. El instrumento aplicado fue el Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) elaborada por Salovey et al. (1995), adaptado al contexto peruano. Se encontró que no existen diferencias significativas en cuanto a sexo y edad en los policías de la muestra; asimismo, la mayoría se ubica en el nivel medio de inteligencia emocional, y no se encontraron diferencias significativas en las dimensiones de inteligencia emocional según sexo y edad. Se concluye que los niveles de inteligencia emocional son similares en varones y mujeres, como en adultos jóvenes y medios participantes.
Police practice demands a series of personal, social and community responsibilities, associated with continuous dangerous situations inherent to the role they play in society, which is why it is necessary that they have tools and emotional management skills, in this sense it was proposed as general objective, to determine the differences according to sex and age on emotional intelligence in police officers from a police station in Chiclayo, 2023. The study design was non-experimental-cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative in scope. The participants were 102 police officers, 75 men and 27 women between 21 and 60 years old, active in a police station in the province of Chiclayo. The technique used was the survey. The instrument applied was the Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) developed by Salovey et al. (1995), adapted to the Peruvian context. It was concluded that there are no significant differences in terms of sex and age in the police officers in the sample; Likewise, a higher percentage are located at the average level of emotional intelligence, and no significant differences were found in the dimensions of emotional intelligence according to sex and age. It is concluded that the levels of emotional intelligence are similar in men and women, as well as in young and middle adult participants.
