Objective: To determine the quality of life in students with acne vulgaris from an educational institution in the city of Lambayeque. Materials and methods: Correlational descriptive study, with a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 358 fourth and fifth grade students from an educational institution in Lambayeque. A simple random sampling was carried out; a sample of 155 students was obtained with a confidence level of 90% and a margin of error of 5%. The instruments used were the Spanish Acne Severity Scale (EGAE) and the Children Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) questionnaire. Results: The sample consisted of 105 males (67.7%) and 50 females (32.3%). All students in the sample presented acne vulgaris. The most affected body region was the face. A frequency of 51.6% of moderate to severe acne was found, and 48.4% of mild acne. It was found that 67.8% presented some degree of affectation of the level of quality of life, while 32.3% presented no affectation of the level of quality of life. The highest frequency of the impact on the level of quality of life is evident in patients with moderate to severe acne, which is statistically significant (p <0.05), as well as in those males in the fourth year of high school, with a family history of acne, previous treatment and the consequent failure to this, which is also statistically significant (p <0.05). Conclusions: There is a statistically significant difference between the level of quality of life and sex, family history of acne, previous treatment, treatment failure and degree of severity of acne, respectively (p<0,05).
