Throughout history, markets have been of great importance in urban life, not only for their economic role, but also for the formation of spaces for social interaction. Adapting and evolving to modern societies, they have become part of their urban planning. However, the recent Covid19 pandemic had a profound impact on its operation, causing the closure of these in order to prevent the spread of the virus, due to poor management in terms of compliance with the rules, which led to the formation of unsafe spaces for people. In view of this, the need arises to find a solution to counteract this situation effectively and immediately, and, above all, with the flexibility to adapt to the different urban contexts of the city. Therefore, this research aimed to determine strategies that could ensure the proper functioning of temporary markets, taking the western sector of the district of Chiclayo as a research site. To this end, this study was structured in three phases that responded to the specific objectives. The first analyzed the state of habitability of neighborhood markets, in order to determine whether or not they have the necessary conditions to ensure the safety of users. The second was to determine potential sites for the implementation of the proposal, analyzing the urban-architectural characteristics of the sector. The third and last one was based on defining strategies to ensure the viability and acceptance of the intervention within the sector under study. Finally, the results of the research provide a schematization of the selected strategies, as well as a brief explanation of them, as a consequence of previous research. Likewise, they include the criteria for spatial distribution and zoning of how the elements of the proposal should be organized.
