Depressive symptoms in adolescents have been extensively studied; however, research analyzing this issue within urban and rural school contexts remains limited. Therefore, this study is justified by the need to provide information that contributes to understanding depressive symptoms in adolescents and informs preventative measures in schools. A nonexperimental, descriptive-comparative study was conducted with the general objective of comparing depressive symptoms in a rural school and an urban school in the department of Lambayeque. The sample consisted of 452 students aged 12 to 17 years. Data was collected using the Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale (RADS-2), adapted to the Peruvian context. The results suggest no statistically significant differences in depressive symptoms between adolescents from the two educational contexts.
