The general objective of this research was to analyze the elements of cinematographic language present in the film “The Mirror” (Zérkalo - 1975) by director Andréi Tarkovsky; while the specific objectives were: to examine the visual elements of cinematographic language present in the feature film (space, color, lighting and movement), describe the use of sound in the film, and explain what characteristics the montage has and what the narrative structure is. that has been used in the film. The research was based on the naturalistic paradigm, with qualitative methodology and hermeneutic approach. The content analysis technique (or documentary analysis) was used, and the instrument used was the analysis sheet; which was divided into four cards for each specific objective. Finally, the results obtained showed that the visual elements were not only used for aesthetic and narrative purposes; but they also had a symbolic purpose, since they sought to build meanings in the viewer's mind, and make them sympathize with the characters. In the case of color, it was also used to visually separate the main chronological line from events that occur in the past, dream representations of dreams, and archival material of real historical events. The sound used was used for narrative purposes, as well as to enrich the meaning of the image, and provoke an emotional response in the audience. While the montage stood out for having a slow pace; and build a non-linear narrative structure.
