Aggressiveness in adolescents can lead to maladaptive behaviors that usually result in low academic performance, withdrawal or rejection by peers, and desensitization towards others. On the other hand, empathy can act as a catalyst for good friendships with both peers and teachers, and it is also a protective factor against antisocial behavior. This descriptive correlational study sought to determine the relationship between cognitive-affective empathy and aggressiveness in adolescent students from a public educational institution in Chiclayo. The sample consisted of 204 students in the 4th and 5th grades of secondary school. The Brief Basic Empathy Scale (BES-B) adapted nationally by Merino and Grimaldo (2015) with a reliability of .70, and the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) by Buss and Perry, standardized by María Matalinares et al. (2012) with a reliability of .836, were applied. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between the variables of aggressiveness and cognitive- affective empathy (p = 0.075). In conclusion, both variables are independent of each other.
