This study focused on burnout syndrome among primary and secondary school teachers at an educational institution in Chiclayo during 2022. Its purpose was to identify the impact of this syndrome on the mental health of educators. Using a basic quantitative approach and a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) was administered to a sample of 100 teachers. The results indicated a moderate level of burnout, evidenced by symptoms of emotional exhaustion, frustration, discouragement, and low engagement in institutional activities. It was concluded that, in addition to identifying the presence of the syndrome, the study highlighted the urgent need to address the well-being of educators. The findings suggested the implementation of strategies for the prevention and management of work-related stress, such as psychological support programs, stress management workshops, and restructuring of work loads. Furthermore, this study established a solid foundation for future research that could explore the specific causes of burnout in this context and assess the effectiveness of various interventions.
