Due to the large expanse of sandy soils in the Lambayeque region, it is important to experiment with new ways to improve the mechanical properties of this type of soil. Building on them typically faces certain limitations due to their natural composition. These include low load-bearing capacity, low cohesiveness between particles, which is related to their poor stability, and the easy liquefaction of these soils when saturated. This is a common problem generally encountered in these sandy soils. Furthermore, the aim was to reuse coal ash from the manufacture of artisanal clay bricks as a stabilizing material to improve the mechanical properties of sandy soils. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to improve the mechanical properties of sandy soils in the Lambayeque region using coal ash. The research experimented with the addition of 5%, 10%, and 15% coal ash, derived from the waste from artisanal brickmaking, to representative samples from the Lambayeque region. Three test pits were studied in their entirety; first, the physical characteristics of the soil in its natural state were determined, and then with the aforementioned additions. Tests were performed for granulometry, Atterberg limits, and specific gravity. Subsequently, tests were conducted to determine the mechanical properties of the natural soil and with the additions corresponding to the direct shear, deformability, and permeability tests.
