Family caregivers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) face a series of physical, emotional and psychological demands. In response, they resort to coping strategies as essential mechanisms to deal with the complex situation they are experiencing. The research had the following objectives: To describe and understand the coping strategies and characterize the family caregiver of children with cerebral palsy from a Private Clinic in Pimentel, 2024. The methodology used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. The population consisted of 105 family caregivers of children with CP. The sample was 12 family caregivers, determined by data saturation and redundancy, the sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience. In the collection of information, the semi-structured interview validated by expert judgment was used. The data were processed by thematic content analysis. Throughout the execution of the research, the principles of personalist bioethics and scientific rigor were applied. Three categories were obtained: Coping considerations for parents with a child with cerebral palsy; Moving from frustration and pain to strength and happiness in the face of their child's diagnosis; Strategies used by parents in caring for and supporting their children with cerebral palsy. It is concluded that parents resort to various strategies to disconnect from daily worries and immerse themselves in a world of peace. Most seek a way out to clear their minds, while prayer, fasting and music provide them with faith, calm and energy.
