Motivación académica de estudiantes de medicina en las rotaciones clínicas virtuales en una universidad privada de Lambayeque, 2022

Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de motivación académica en estudiantes de medicina durante las rotaciones clínicas virtuales en una universidad privada de Lambayeque. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal, la muestra empleada fue de 149 estudiantes de la escuela de Medicina Humana matriculados en el semestre académico 2022-II, pertenecientes a los ciclos sexto, octavo, décimo y décimo segundo. El instrumento utilizado fue el cuestionario Escala de Motivación Académica (EMA) el cual consta de tres sub escalas: motivación intrínseca, motivación extrínseca y desmotivación, el cuestionario fue aplicado de manera presencial en la cual los participantes aceptaron previo consentimiento informado. Resultados: Se encuestaron a 149 participantes, con una mediana de 22 años (Intervalo intercuartil: 21, 23, mínimo 18 y máximo 26 años). Según sexo, predomina las mujeres, razón de mujeres/hombres: 80/69. El 27.5% tuvieron motivación extrínseca alta, 47% tuvieron motivación intrínseca alta y 18% desmotivación alta. El duodécimo ciclo registra un 65% de estudiantes con motivación media, destacándose además que en este ciclo no se reportó ningún estudiante con motivación baja. Conclusiones: Los estudiantes de medicina demostraron que presentan un nivel de motivación académica media-alta respecto a las rotaciones clínicas virtuales. La motivación intrínseca es la que predomina en los estudiantes. Predominó el sexo femenino, sin embargo, no existe diferencia significativa (p>0.05) frente al nivel de motivación académica.

The instrument used was the Academic Motivation Scale (EMA), it’s a questionnaire which consists of three sub-scales. Intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation and demotivation, this questionnaire was applied personally and participants accepted with prior informed consent. Results: 149 participants were surveyed, with a median age of 22 years (interquartile range: 21, 23, minimum 18 and maximum 26 years). According to sex, women predominated, ratio of women/men: 80/69. Extrinsic motivation was high in 27.5%, intrinsic motivation high in 47% and demotivation high in 18%. The twelfth cycle recorded 65% of students with medium motivation, also highlighting that no student with low motivation was reported in this cycle. Conclusions: Medical students showed that they present a medium-high level of academic motivation respect to virtual clinical rotations. Intrinsic motivation is the one that predominates in the students. However, there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the level of academic motivation.
