Bullying is not only a mental health issue, but also a social problem that directly affects schoolchildren involved in diverse areas of their lives, impeding optimal development and even interfering with their educational progress. Furthermore, in the school context, developing adequate emotional intelligence is important since it will allow better management of emotions and behaviors during this challenging stage. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between bullying and emotional intelligence in secondary school students at a private school in Chiclayo. The design was non-experimental and correlational; the sample was census-based, comprised of 131 male and female students in their fourth and fifth years of secondary school, attending the private Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo institution. Two instruments corresponding to the study variables were administered, each with its respective validity and reliability: the Bullying Scale Form B and the Bar-On Ice Emotional Quotient Inventory N.A. To address the stated objectives, Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient was used, resulting in a low negative relationship (-0.268). Finally, it was concluded that there is a highly significant relationship between bullying and emotional intelligence in students; thus, measuring one of these variables can explain the increase or decrease in the other.
